Act Of Stupidity By MCMC?

On the day of 30 May 2011, an instruction was made by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to instruct all Malaysia ISPs to block a number of file sharing sites.  They are :-
http://www.warez-bb.org
http://thepiratebay.org
http://www.movie2k.to
http://www.megavideo.com
http://www.putlocker.com
http://www.depositfiles.com
http://www.duckload.com
http://www.fileserve.com
http://www.filetube.com
http://www.megaupload.com
The act of stupidity and brainless peoples in MCMC will make millions of Internet users in Malaysia unable to access to the above said sites.

Please note that MSC Malaysia 10 Point Bill of Guarantees quoted "BoG 7 : To ensure no censorship of the Internet".  Now I just knew that this guarantees had just became a bull-shit!  Furthermore, our PM (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) made a speech at the 1st Malaysian-ASEAN Regional Bloggers Conference that he promised Malaysian that his administration would never censor the Internet!  Here is the quoted of his speech :-

“Malaysians have to thank Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for this.

“When he was the Prime Minister, and Malaysia was developing our Multimedia Super Corridor, Tun made the promise to the world that Malaysia would never censor the Internet.

“My government is fully committed to that wisdom — we intend to keep his word.”

A very interesting and yet powerful speech given by our PM!  Thank you, Tun Dr Mahathir.

So, what is the reason of blocking those file sharing sites?

From the "spy letter", I think they pointed out that those sites share and provide download for illegal copyright material, namely movie, music, software, etc etc... or maybe porn?  Hello... Mr MCMC, blocking those sites won't shut down those sites, it just make peoples hate you!  By the way, don't you read the law... BoG 7?  Since when Tun Dr Mahathir's words become a rubbish to you MCMC guys!

** Please note that the above letter can be easily obtain through the Internet!

If the Government wants to tackle the pirated materials, go settles on the street first, and not online!  Try to walk along the street, pasar malam (night market), pasar pagi (morning market), supermarket, coffee shops and virtually anywhere you can walk on, you can easily get yourself a very latest movie DVD, music, and software (and Blu-ray too)!  Those sellers already on street since birth of VCD player, why not the Government go and settle those first!

Second, try to think why people want pirated materials!  Sometime the price of "ORI" products do not really justify what the consumers feel how much it really worth, and furthermore consumers also need the education of respecting the intellectual property too.  I still got the feeling that those "ORI" company or entertainment industry still making a lot a lot a lot of profits as they are in "war" with the "non-ORI producer".

Here is some radical idea for you MCMC guys, why don't you guys block YouTube, Google, Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook, and scan all incoming-outgoing public email ... because if you don't block it, users  will continue to share all the "love message" about you MCMC through out these channels!  Why don't you MCMC try out this one : http://www.facebook.com/DontBlockFS, and you MCMC guys got a lot a lot of fans and all of them love you very much!
On the other hand, there are still hundreds or maybe thousands of sites providing the same services like the above banned sites, I think you MCMC guys should ban all ISP from providing Internet service to the consumers, and this is the ultimate way to ensure "we" cannot get our hand on those illegal pirated material online!

So, what now... since the damage had already done!

Well, Malaysia Internet users can try to change your DNS setting to public DNS server instead of using your ISPs' DNS setting.  Here is some server providers :-

=>  8.8.8.8
=>  8.8.4.4

=>  208.67.222.222
=>  208.67.220.220

=>  156.154.70.1
=>  156.154.71.1

You guys can search online in how to change your DNS setting as according to your operating system.  Even mobile devices also has the ability to change the DNS setting manually.

And a final word to Mr PM, with all due respect, since you said you want to be bloggers' partner... I think now is the time!

PS : To you again, Malaysia Internet service speed is really sucks too!
